The Progression of Lip Care

This summer has truly been a hot one - and while I’ll be the first to say I love summer, it’s important to acknowledge that winter is right around the corner! Lip care has begun to grow significantly in the last few years with claims and benefits similar to that of skincare:

Sounds like I could be describing a skincare product, right?

Biology of the Lips

This progression in lip care is actually a wonderful thing. The lips are made up of only 3 very thin layers - versus the skin with 15-20 layers - and have no sebaceous glands, sweat glands, or hair follicles.

Because the lips are much more fragile than the skin, factors like:

• Harsh winds
• Cold weather
• Little humidity
